Hangzhou, June 13(Greenpost) — Many Chinese students went abroad to study. How was the result? Did they stay abroad or did they go back to their home town to serve their hometown people? In Linping, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, many returned Chinese set up their business which is adaptable to their location and situation, but using advanced ideas they have learnt from abroad.

Hong Zhihao is one of those who came back from America and set up his own business in his hometown.

Graduated from Kansus University, Hong came back to his hometown Linping and contracted to one thousand acre of lotus pond to pruduce lotus products for 14 billion potential customer.

“I used to work for a bank when I came back from abroad. I was born in a town where we grow white lotus. My father discovered a technology to grow white lotus fruit. In 2019, I started up this workshop to carry on agricultural development task.” said Hong.

Hong said traditionally Chinese people just eat dried Lotus fruit as a kind of medicine to lower the fever. But he found new way to eat it. That is to eat it very early and treat it as a kind of healthy fruit. Then it doesn’t taste bitter as the dried one.

Currently China is also entering into senior age period and a lot of grandma are still fit for work but nothing better to do. Thus he organized these grandmas to come to work for him to get the lotus fruit out of the plant.

“The time table is not too strict, it is just a way for these women to gather together and have fun while doing this job.” said Hong.

The grandmas have their own pention, but life is boring if they don’t do anything. Working here, they can also earn some more to add on to their life expenses while talking and laughing together with their colleagues.

Hong said he learnt a lot of good development ideas from America and he likes to provide better products for the people. These lotus are grown in ponds which are adaptable to climate here and provides many kinds of products such as lotus roots, trunk and branches.

Hong said he made full used of networking and partnership strategy to cooperate with packaging company Hema and local community to get their support.

Hong said this is a way to create a better environment for work and life. It is also a way to make full use of the product of Lotus.

He is also grateful for the support from the government policy for returned overseas Chinese students.
