BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) – The size of China’s wearable devices market has topped 12.58 billion yuan in 2015, up 471.8 percent year on year, according to a report released by China Academy of Telecommunication Research (CATR).
Min Dong, chief engineer at the Communications Standards Research Institute of CATR, said the huge potential of some vertical sectors in the wearable devices market will be released in 2016 and the market size is expected to reach 20 billion yuan.
Min said among all products, consumers incline to traditional terminal companies. Thanks to Apple’s brand image in the consumer electronics field, 70.8 percent consumers are interested in Apple’s wearable devices, and Xiaomi and Huawei are also popular brands. More than 50 percent consumers set their budget within 1,000 yuan, but mid- and high-end market also has advocates. (Edited by Luo Jingjing, firstname.lastname@example.org)
